The international conference was a great success, and we are greatfully to know that all the old students from the Master are doing really well in the real architecture life. From teaching to material researchers, the Biodigital Architecture family seems to grow healthy.

Aquí tienes algunas fotos de este pequeño workshop que tuvo lugar durante los primeros días a cargo de Alessio Erioli y Maksoudand Aref.

We are pleased to present the detailed paper on this three days workshop starting on 30 May at 10am. PhD MArch Alessio Erioli and MArch Aref Maksoudand will be in charge of this workshop entitled Voluptuous bodies and emergent qualities.


The aim of the workshop is to give an introductory understanding of key concepts such as topology, information (in morphogenesis), redundancy and pluripotency as a mean to undisclose performative potential through morphology, from biological development to architectural design, within a general framework of an ecology of design.

Yesterday the students presented the last work from Del Campo-Manninger (SPAN) Studio. As special guest, Luis Fraguada assisted to the final correction.

The project represents a deep study about patterns, topologies, non-regular space filling geometries, and aggregations. All these related and born within the study of geometric and mathematical properties from the flowers.

Ayer, los estudiantes presentaron la última obra de Del Campo-Manninger (SPAN)Studio. Como invitado especial, Luis Fraguada asistido a la corrección final.

El proyecto representa un estudio profundo acerca de los patrones, topologías, las geometrías del espacio no habitual de llenado, y agregaciones. Todos estosrelacionados y nacidos en el estudio de las propiedades geométricas y matemáticasde las flores.

By chance, now in this crucial moment, are offered new techniques of an enormous potential: biological techniques and digital techniques. And even fusion of both, in something that can be named biodigital architecture. One that has incorporated the advantages proportioned by the understanding of genetics in both ways, the biological and the digital way, that permit to face with hope some continuity also worthy, but this time a dignity for all The Earth.

Then, as the ones that made efforts to break with the ancient classical tradition to found the new modern tradition, we are in front of the challenge of creating the future tradition of biodigital and genetics. For this is necessary that people work on three key elements: research, teaching and profession. This is exactly what we have been doing in Barcelona from 2000, with the Genetic Architecture Research Group and Ph.D. Programme, with the Biodigital Architecture Master’s Degree and with the Genetic Architectures Office. There we learn & teach, we make research and we design: Knowing that there are sufficient differential parameters to predict a complete age’s change. 

Today, after the first decade of our new Century, it is time to explain, to check, to discuss, fascinations, inspirations, experiences, that the graduates of these Research Group, Master’s Degree and Architecture Office have done in the developing of this biodigital architecture and genetics, up to now.

Taking profit of the holidays, all the PCs in our digital laboratory will update their Rhino versions to 5.0 (currently in WIP). Between many other features, Rhino5.0 allows to display and edit huge 3D models which will allow us to design even more complex projects.

Aprovechando las vacaciones, todos los PCs de nuestro laboratorio digital actualizarán su versión de Rhinoceros a v5.0 (actualmente en WIP). Entre muchas otras funciones, Rhino5.0 permite trabajar con modelos 3D mucho mayores, permitiéndonos así desarrollar proyectos aun más complejos.

On Monday April 4th, Bernard Cache will arrive for another intensive workshop at the Biodigital Architecture Master.

Bernard Cache was born 26th may 1958, Architect EPFL, Polytechnic School of Lausanne, Diploma of the Institute of Philosophy. He is a key figure within a select group who have been using digital tools and computation techniques for architectural conception since the very beginning, and so we are really looking forward to see and work on his new ideas.

El lunes 4 de Abril, Bernard Cache llegará a otro intenso taller intensivo en el Máster de Arquitectura Biodigital.

Bernard Cache nace el 26 de mayo de 1958, Arquitecto EPFL, Escuela Politécnica deLausana, Diploma del Instituto de Filosofía... Es una figura clave dentro de un selecto grupo que han estado utilizando las herramientas digitales y técnicas de computación para la concepción arquitectónica desde sus inicios y así, estamos deseando ver y trabajar en sus nuevas ideas.
